The 3M Rollgliss R550 is a compact, easy-to-use emergency rescue and escape system designed for quick evacuation from height when time matters most.
It provides a fully automatic, controlled descent from a wide range of elevated work areas. Whether you’re working on a tower, crane or platform, the R550 helps get you or a team member safely to the ground in urgent situations.
Its clever bi-directional design means the rope feeds from both sides, one person can descend while the next hook is automatically lifted and ready to go. This allows for multiple rescues in a row without having to reset the system, saving time in emergencies.
The R550 is made from strong, corrosion-resistant materials, yet remains lightweight and compact, making it easy to carry and set up. It includes a built-in rescue lifting hub for assisted rescue when a worker cannot descend on their own. Just lower the device, connect to the person, and bring them down safely. Some models also include an integrated pigtail and cam cleat for added control.
The system uses durable 9.6 mm static kernmantle rope and is available in various lengths, from 10 m to 200 m for two-person use, or up to 500 m for one person. It supports up to 280 kg in total weight.
