The RIDGEGEAR RGA12 is a lightweight, high-performance rope grab device designed for use with 11mm kernmantle rope, offering reliable fall protection and controlled ascent or descent in vertical work environments. Engineered for safety and efficiency, the RGA12 is an essential component for rope access professionals, scaffolders, and those working in confined spaces or at height.
When in use, the RGA12 should be connected to the chest attachment point of a compatible harness (such as the RGH2 or RGH4) using a karabiner. This connection point keeps the user close to the structure, reducing fall distance and minimising the force transferred to the top anchor in the event of a slip or fall.
The device is fitted with a manual safety lock for secure engagement and is certified for use in both fall arrest and rope access applications, in accordance with EN 353-2:2002 and EN 12841:2006-A standards. It delivers a maximum arrest force of under 6kN when used with compatible rope, such as the RIDGEGEAR RGRO11.
While highly intuitive to use, it’s recommended that users undergo proper training to ensure safe working practices, particularly when detaching from the system at height. For additional safety, the RGA12 is often paired with a backup lanyard (such as the RGL range) for secondary fall protection.
