Crafted from industrial-grade aluminium alloy, the ABTECH RT3 tripod is a robust and reliable solution for two-person rescue operations. Despite its solid build, it remains relatively lightweight at 21.5kg, making it portable and practical for field use. Designed with simplicity in mind, the RT3 is easy to set up, operate, and maintain, with just an annual service recommended.
Each of the telescopic legs can be adjusted individually, offering flexibility on uneven ground and ensuring a secure, stable setup. The tripod extends to a maximum height of 2.6m with a base width of 2m, allowing a stretchered casualty to be lifted vertically and completely clear of an entry point. Once the job is complete, the legs can be collapsed to a closed height of 2.15m, and the unit can be packed away in an optional padded carry bag for easy transport.
With three overhead pulleys and three fixed eyebolts, the RT3 offers six anchor points for up to 11mm rope. This configuration supports the use of Mechanical Prusik systems, automatic belay devices, and lanyards for added stability, with the option to pin the tripod feet to the ground for extra security.
Certified to EN795 Type B, the RT3 supports a Safe Working Load (SWL) of up to 250kg with a 6:1 safety factor, making it ideal for a range of confined space entry, rescue, and work positioning scenarios. The tripod can also accommodate additional gear such as medical kits, communication lines, tools, and lighting systems.

No, however, we would suggest that you undertake a Confined Space Course which covers the use and set-up of tripods. Our sister company Citrus Training offers these courses.
First, understand your requirements, such as the work environment, and determine the type of spaces you will work in (e.g., dimensions and access points). Recognising how many people will use the tripod simultaneously and the equipment’s compatibility with other devices is also important. You should also evaluate the weight capacity by determining the maximum load that and tripod needs to support. Additionally, consider the portability and look for features such as foldable legs, lightweight materials and ease of assembly.
